Artificial intelligence is increasingly present in the purchasing world and was one of the topics of the Procurement Innovation Forum – 2024 edition, held by Yvent, on August 6th and 7th. Our CTO and Head of Innovation and AI, Armando de Vilhena, spoke on the topic “Transforming purchasing with AI: the future of usability and efficiency”. Below, check out some insights that were shared in the talk:
The relationship between man and machine has evolved over the decades, but until recently, the operational basis was practically the same, based on menus, screens, forms and reports. To interact with the system, it was necessary to master a technical language and know specific commands to obtain the desired results.
With the advancement of technology, search engines such as Google emerged, bringing a new way of accessing information. These engines allowed for more intuitive interaction with systems; however, despite the progress, the basic structure of the systems remained the same.
Now, generative AI is changing the way we interact with machines and how they interact with us. After being trained with a lot of information, our interactions happen in a more natural and accessible way, adapted to our needs. This is because generative AI understands the context through common sense.
Like never before, machines can “talk” to users, understanding their needs and offering contextualized responses. AI can understand different terms that mean the same thing. It can also adapt to the user’s style and preferences, providing a more personalized and efficient experience.
In ME, the revolution in the purchasing area is already a reality. We are developing systems that capture information intelligently, regardless of the quality with which it is inserted in the real world. An example of this is reading data from an invoice.
“With this technology, we want our customers, buyers and suppliers to be able to make agile and informed decisions, without having to become experts in procurement systems. This is the future of human-machine interface, where technology works for the user, not the other way around. In ME, generative AI is not just a tool; it is the key to efficiency and innovation in procurement,” declares Armando de Vilhena, CTO and Head of Innovation and AI at ME.
The launch is scheduled for October 30th, at the ME B2B Summit 2024. register here to participate in the event and stay up to date with ME product innovations!
