Another interview from the special series celebrating Mercado Eletrônico's 25th anniversary is now live.
Over the past few weeks, we have been sharing the stories of some of ME's longest-serving employees, in order to recall several special moments and highlight our evolution as a company, which started out very small and is now considered one of the best places to work in Brazil.
Breaking through Marketing and HR
In the sixth post of the series, we interviewed Klyvian Flores, who has been with Mercado Eletrônico for 15 years. She is currently the company's Marketing Manager and her mission is to attract customers, foster new ideas in the market and take care of the company's image, together with her team.
ME: Have you ever changed areas? What has your trajectory been within the company so far?
Klyvian: Yes! I started in March 2004, in the marketing area. I was the only one in the area, working as a manager of the press office, the events we sponsored, the materials produced for the commercial and the agencies we hired for specific jobs.
In addition, I participated in the structuring of the company's processes and we achieved ISO 9001 certification. In 2007, I went on maternity leave and, close to my return, Eduardo Nader called me to a meeting and suggested that I join the HR structure. I spent 10 years working with Adriana Oliveira, who is now the director of the area.
In 2017, I received an offer to return to Marketing, the area where I am currently a manager, and I believe I am living my best professional moment.
ME: What has changed in the company since you joined until today?
Klyvian: A lot has changed. I have witnessed many moments in the company. Many achievements and also difficult moments, but it is interesting to note the quick reaction power we have to turn things around. It is also worth highlighting how the company upholds its values. In fact, we are a place that puts “People First”. It is incredible how ME cares about creating an excellent work environment. Today, I see a company that is better known and recognized in the market, more concerned with evolving its offering and better serving the customer.
ME: Why do you think you have been at the same company for so long, at a time when professional unrest is so great?
Klyvian: People are shocked when I tell them I've been at the same company for 15 years. They look at me with astonishment and ask: Wow, why have you stayed at one company for so long? Don't you think it's bad for your career? Aren't you professionally stagnant?
And I answer: I have been working for 15 years in a company that allows me to learn and develop. That challenges me to grow and allows me to make mistakes. That trusts my work and gives me autonomy. That recognizes my work and has an excellent atmosphere. I am in a company that respects me as a human being and has helped me through all the difficult moments in my personal and professional life. I can only thank you!
ME: What were the most challenging moments you experienced at ME?
Klyvian: The most challenging part was my recent move to Marketing. I took on completely different responsibilities and, for the first time, I was leading a team. I was very well received and we made a lot happen. I prefer a more horizontal management style and to act as a facilitator and guide for the team. I don't like hierarchical management. I just try to apply my 15 years of knowledge of the company's business and direct it to meet the company's strategies.
ME: Leave a message for people who are just starting out at the company:
Klyvian: Act like an entrepreneur and have an owner's spirit. Face challenges with dedication and commitment. Don't be satisfied with today's results. Always strive for more. Remember that you will grow if the company grows. Help the people around you develop. Infect the people around you with good energy and motivation. We are in a company with a great atmosphere and that respects its employees. Take advantage of it!
This was the fourth interview in the special series celebrating Mercado Eletrônico's 25th anniversary. We would like to thank all the company's professionals for sharing this important moment with us, and Klyvian for accepting the proposed challenge.
