5 Procurement Trends for 2024

With the theme “5 trends for Procurement”, Silvio Mota, global director of channels and partnerships at ME, addressed the main themes that promise to move the supply chain this year, in addition to presenting the Electronic Market solution for purchasing management.

  1. Digitalization of processes

The digitalization of purchasing processes is boosting efficiency in companies’ operations, increasing agility and enabling faster responses to market demands. In addition, by being freed from operational and bureaucratic activities, purchasing professionals are gaining more autonomy and strategy in the day-to-day running of the sector.

  1. Data-driven decisions

In the dynamic B2B environment, decisions based on data are essential to face challenges such as risk mitigation and identification of purchasing opportunities (seasonality), boosting supply chain efficiency and resilience. Through data, teams can predict demands, optimize inventories and adjust strategies quickly.

  1. Age of AI

A artificial intelligence is revolutionizing procurement. With advanced algorithms capable of identifying patterns and making decisions based on the information received, companies can streamline processes, reduce errors and optimize costs. AI also enables analysis of suppliers, facilitating the identification of opportunities and risk mitigation.

  1. Collaboration and strategic partnerships

In today’s supply chain era, collaboration with suppliers is essential to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. By involving suppliers in processes, procurement functions can be more strategic and proactive in finding solutions that add value to the business. This collaborative approach fosters a mutually beneficial environment.

  1. ESG at the heart of procurement strategies

Sustainability and profitability must go hand in hand. Having the ESG in the purchasing strategy means prioritizing suppliers that adopt responsible practices, in addition to adopting measures to promote transparency and compliance throughout the supply chain. In this sense, technology is a great ally in controlling processes and reducing associated risks.
