And to celebrate the ¼ century, we have prepared several special contents, which aim to combine moments of nostalgia, knowledge for the shopping market and tribute to each of the people who were and still are part of this journey of hard work and success.

Here on the blog, we are starting a series of 8 interviews with ME’s oldest employees. After all, in a company that values “people first”, it’s only natural to have names that have been working alongside us for a long time.

From 2009 to the present day

To open this commemorative series, we present the interview conducted with the collaborator Ramon Cicero Sousa Santos, who has been working for 10 years in the company. Currently, he is one of the coordinators of the Development area and works simultaneously in two teams.

He is responsible for analyzing and developing business rules, suggestions and plans for the evolution of the product. In addition, his team makes corrections and takes care of the technical evolution of the platform.

ME: Have you ever changed areas? What has your trajectory been within the company so far?

Ramon: Yes! I started my journey in ME at the age of 17, as a follow-up apprentice in the supplier relationship team. A few months later, I moved to the supplier support area and then to level 1 buyer support. It was at this time that I was able to learn the entire purchasing process, understand both sides and gain the skills to work in all processes. After 5 years, after receiving several feedbacks and the necessary maturity, I moved to the Development area. Today, I work as a coordinator of the service and development team, and a member/developer on the sUPDEV team.

ME: Why do you think you have been at the same company for so many years, at a time when professional unrest is so great?

Ramon: When I was younger, I often thought about leaving ME. Maybe out of curiosity, restlessness, wanting something different, or even because I was unmotivated by some activities. I have participated in interviews and passed many that seemed advantageous at the time, but none of them had the same feeling I felt when I was 17. I really value well-being and the work environment. I believe there are many places that offer this, but the “wanting to do more” for ME is a feeling that has not diminished in me. Believing in the company’s values, seeing them as more than just a theory, is something that awakens the desire to do better every day. Wanting to help people achieve their daily goals, whether they are members of my team or not, has become fuel and this feeling has spread among everyone here.

ME: What were the most challenging moments you experienced at ME?

Ramon: All the area migrations were challenging, however, leading a team is, without a doubt, the biggest challenge of my career to date.

ME: And what was the most memorable moment you experienced at the company?

Ramon: Presenting the results for the first time at the company's quarterly meeting was definitely the most memorable moment for me. Since I started, I had seen other people show their achievements, challenges and numbers, and being able to be there and contribute was very rewarding.

ME: Leave a message for people who are just starting out at the company, or who want to work here:

Ramon: ME is an excellent place to work, with people who add value without having ulterior motives.

There are countless companies where you will find a cool environment, where people are valued and treated as people, and ME is one of them.
