Tereos achieves purchasing strategies and new suppliers with e-Procurement

The routine of a buyer who has not yet automated purchases involves putting out fires all the time. To discuss this topic, we invited João Francisco Toqueti, BSC and Procurement Executive Manager at Tereos, one of the largest producers of sugar and derivatives in the country and a ME client, to the National Procurement Forum. The event was promoted by Minder on August 29th, in a hybrid format: in-person in São Paulo and with live streaming for registrants.

With the lecture “Transformation of supplies: from routine firefighters to digital strategists”, João Toqueti showed Tereos' journey to achieve business intelligence, greater savings, governance, supplier development and better decisions for the company.

Use of e-Procurement transforms the routine of Tereos buyers

At the event, João Toqueti highlighted technology as a great ally for the company's purchasing team. In addition to saving time, the solutions have given employees more autonomy, allowing them to effectively participate in decisions and innovations.

Among the most recent strategies in the area is the implementation of Electronic Market e-Procurement solution. During the lecture, João Toqueti showed some of the results already achieved by Tereos in the last 3 months, since the go live of the e-Procurement tool (Procure-to-Pay):

  • + than 10 thousand purchase orders
  • 97% of the supplier contract base
  • 76 new contracts generated in ME
  • 27 new suppliers
  • + 1 thousand quotes

Furthermore, the main benefits highlighted since the implementation of e-Procurement were:

  • Greater security for purchasing operations
  • Sustainable processes, generating governance and compliance
  • Agility in sending quotes and orders
  • Ease of indicator management (KPIs)
  • Visibility of the payment and receipt process
  • Using the e-Marketplace for the development of new suppliers

Tereos highlights access to new supply base

Supplier management is one of the most important topics for Tereos. João Toqueti highlighted that the ME has allowed access to a new supply base and more favorable negotiations. In just 3 months, the company has already closed deals with 27 new partners.

“We are in the first phase of the project with Mercado Eletrônico and we have already gained access to a new supplier base. Now, we can seek new partners, new relationships, new business and new results,” said João Toqueti.
